Rooted in Truden
reimagined for generations

Our Story

For decades, the Goldener Adler has been the beating heart of Truden – a constant presence woven into the fabric of village life.

Five generations of the Stuppner family have poured their hearts into this house. In 1969, a young Anton Stuppner – father to today’s Andreas – took the reins with dreams and determination.

By 1980, Toni and his wife Martha had breathed new life into the building, transforming it into the village’s natural gathering place – where locals shared stories over wine and travelers found a warm welcome.

Now, we’re writing a new chapter.

From Inn to Independent Living

We’ve reimagined our traditional guesthouse as something more intimate: an apartment house where breakfast is served but independence is cherished. Nine thoughtfully designed units offer you space to live at your own rhythm – peaceful, private, and refreshingly uncomplicated. While the soul of the house remains, its purpose has evolved. We haven’t expanded outward; instead, we’ve refined inward, creating clarity from tradition.

Natural Materials, Timeless Design

Local woods tell the story of our renovation – warm larch, aromatic Swiss pine, sturdy spruce, and noble oak shape every surface and detail. The architecture whispers rather than shouts. Abundant natural light, soothing colors, and honest materials create an atmosphere of effortless calm. This isn’t about making impressions; it’s about spaces that simply feel right.

Freedom Within Framework

The Goldener Adler remains intentionally intimate. Here, personal attention isn’t a service standard – it’s simply how we are. We notice without hovering, we’re reliable without being rigid, and we create a stay that feels as natural as coming home.

Your Hosts
Anke and Andreas Stuppner are the heart behind this transformation. Andreas, a farmer and vintner, pioneered Truden’s first vineyards and apple orchards – a bold vision that required equal parts courage and patience. Together, the couple also manages a forestry business. After 22 years in banking, Anke brought her expertise home. Three years ago, they made the life-changing decision to reimagine the family guesthouse. This renovation – creating nine distinctive apartments – marks their thoughtful new beginning. With their sons Simon and Hannes, the family is deeply rooted in Truden. Their work, family, and love for this region infuse every corner of the house with authentic warmth.
